A Taste of Bangkok Tour (Half-Day)
We have created this tour as an introduction to Bangkok’s rich cultural heritage. You will cycle on both sides of the Chao Phraya River – Thonburi (the old capital of the Siam Kingdom) as well as the modern Bangkok. Apart from discovering the different local cultures you will experience a variety of traditional local foods.
We will start from our office behind Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) in the heart of the old capital (Thonburi). Thonburi became the 3rd capital city until 1782 King Rama I. decided to move the capital across the river, to the area which is now known as Bangkok.
We then cycle though the Kudi Jeen community, a mix of many different cultures living together in one place. A highlight in this area is the Santa Cruz Church, which was built in the 1770s by the Portuguese people who settled in this area around the 16th century. Here you will get the chance to taste a local specialty, Farang Kudi Jeen.
We continue our ride on the cycling path alongside the riverbank and visit royal temples, the Princess Memorial Park and pass through local communities and fresh markets. We will stop for refreshments at Khlongsan Market before we take a ferry across the river to the modern side of Bangkok.
There we will cycle through the Chinese Community and visit an ancient Chinese Temple. The small alleyways in the heart of China Town are full of life – an area that never sleeps. We will stop on the way to let you try some delicious Chinese and Thai food.
Our last stop will be at the biggest flower market in Bangkok (Pak Long Talad) – it is open 24 hours!  If you like you can walk around the market and immerse yourself into an ocean of flowers and fragrances, before we cycle back to the starting point.
